Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (Cfs) the Yuppie Flu?
You may know that I am constantly on the lookout for well written content on Tiredness, knowing that energy and vitality is necessary for the proper operation of a Healthy, Happy and Successful life. Today, I ran across a very informative article that talks about health from a new point of view. Make sure you look into this article and inform me your opinion. Today’s article is titled chronic tiredness and you could read the full article written below for convenience:
Not long ago, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), was described as “yuppie flu.” It was the kind of disease that only the rich and famous can afford to have. At present, it is estimated that over 800,000 people suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome. According to the Centers for Disease Control, over 50% of them are women. While lung cancer, HIV, multiple sclerosis (MS) and lupus often grab the attention as common among women, chronic fatigue syndrome is much more common than all of them.
Unfortunately, less than 10 percent of people with chronic fatigue syndrome have been correctly diagnosed, and therefore are not receiving adequate treatment. Chronic fatigue syndrome is a form of fatigue that has no apparent explanation, but seems to have a set of symptoms or factors that are common from person to person. The diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome will only be made when no other disease or health condition can be found as the cause of extreme tiredness.
At this stage, doctors and scientists do not know the exact cause of chronic fatigue syndrome. What we do know is that it is a disease, or perhaps collection of diseases defined by two deep “and prolonged exhaustion.” Studies have shown that chronic fatigue syndrome is so prevalent among Hispanics and African Americans because it is one of those who are white. It has not been proved conclusively, but it is believed that the SFC may be hereditary, therefore, a possible genetic predisposition. On the other hand, there seems to be contagious in the way the common cold.
Individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome experience a range of common symptoms or factors. If a person has four or more of the following symptoms after a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome is usually done.
The most common symptom is prolonged fatigue lasting six months or more. Although most people feel tired from time to time, and may “sleep” at times, people suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome requires much more sleep and rest. They always wake up in the morning, feeling no-restored. This feeling can not be improved simply by forging on in the shower or in the gym, keeping busy, or having a cup of coffee.
The weariness of someone who has chronic fatigue syndrome can also bring cognitive problems. People who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome noted a significant problem with focusing on the task. They may also experience difficulties with short-term memory, and other impediments.
Another factor in people with CFS have in common is how they recover from stress. Most people recover from performing a function within a foreseeable time. Such recovery also tends to be in a positive direction. A person with chronic fatigue syndrome, however, find they become more real tired, and her other symptoms worsen. This tends to be more noticeable during the period of 24 hours after the first effort. This is known as “post-exertional malaise.”
Individuals with CFS often experience flu-like symptoms and other health problems. These symptoms do not improve within a few days or weeks. Rather, the general feeling of unease persists. While the person with chronic fatigue syndrome are living with HIV can still be found with a compromised immune system, tender lymph nodes and sore throat.
The headaches also seem to be another symptom of chronic fatigue syndrome. These tend to be more severe than the headaches of the past, or have an entirely different pattern. The pain occurs in joints that is not accompanied by redness or swelling, and muscle pain, along with other symptoms may indicate the presence of chronic fatigue syndrome.
Because the origin and the exact cause of CFS is unknown, only tends to be diagnosed as such, after all other health conditions are ruled out. While it seems that women outnumber men in having this disease, chronic fatigue syndrome is still a chance of “equality” of the disease. It affects people throughout the world regardless of ethnic or racial group.
